Driver Gets Head At Stop Light

The author tells of the time he witnessed a man getting head in a BMW while at a stop light in California. Were the driver and his female passenger naughty? You decide.

It was in the mid-80s. I was on business in Santa Monica. My clients and I were waiting to cross Sunset Boulevard where it ends at the ocean. As the light turned red, allowing us to cross, I noticed something odd about the car pulled up first in line at the crosswalk.

The guy driving had a really odd look on his face, almost like he was in the throes of extreme pain or extreme pleasure. It was hard to tell which. He had his hands on the wheel at 9 and 3 and looked to be holding on for dear life.

The walk signal came on and we passed in front of the car. It was one of those small, older BMWs with the large windshields, and we could look right into the driver’s lap. And we did. And there was a woman there with her head doing an imitation of a bobble head doll in the guy’s lap. He gave us a big pained-looking grin and she kept on bobbling.

When we reached the other curb, we all stood there and watched the car turn right and go down the hill to the Pacific Coast Highway. He was keeping it between the lines, but just barely.

So maybe there are a few things that are more distracting than talking on the cell while driving. I still see a couple of the guys I was with, even after 20 years. And we still all remember this bit of Naughty America.
