LOS ANGELES (TNA) – There are few things a man wants to hear less than “I love you like a brother,” so imagine how Ron Jeremy must feel when he hears it.
He’s become close friends with veteran actress Teri Weigel over the last six months and she says it’s affecting their on-screen sex lives.
“We have become such close friends,” she said moments after her Aug. 13 live webcam chat with Naughty America. “He gets booked as the opening act at my shows and then I do my show. It works really well.”
But the good working relationship on the road is affecting what has been a mutually satisfying on-screen sex life.
“In the last six months, we’ve become like brother and sister,” Weigel confessed. “We pal around during the day and it flipped the coin to a different side of Ron.”
Weigel says back when she was breaking into porn 15 years ago, she and the Hedgehog had many erotic encounters.
“When we were younger, we did each other -- and Ron was great!” she said. “I’ve always looked up to him because he’s very smart. He was a teacher and he’s a classical pianist. He’s a brilliant man and I’ve gotten to see that side of him.”
So far, so good for Jeremy, but there’s a downside to her newfound respect.
“Now I consider him more like a brother, so now it’s harder to do him in a scene,” she lamented. “I have to block it out. But otherwise, I’m very happy with how things are now.”
That happiness is a general feeling for Weigel, who is satisfied with the course of her life even though it hasn’t been easy being a porn pioneer.
Weigel came to fame in 1985 posing for Playboy but became notorious in 1991 as the most famous person to leave the Bunny and go into hardcore porn. She feels it has had a positive effect on the others who’ve followed in her footsteps.
“I feel my crossing back and forth between porn and the straight side allowed a lot of people on the straight side to dip into it, and that brought a lot to our business,” she said.
Among those who have benefitted are the hundreds of models who’ve been able to find additional work because there is no longer a stigma toward a Playmate doing hardcore porn.
“It broadened the job market for women, so if they want to, they can go in this direction because I’ve been doing it for the last 15 years and I’ve made a career doing it, and it’s been great,” she said.
In the past, Weigel has made pointed comments about what she felt was unfair treatment by Playboy execs. At this stage of her life, she won’t say that she considers hardcore companies to be more ethical, but attributes her success in porn as a matter of her recognizing the realities of being in a business that is focused on looks and adapting to the changing marketplace.
“You get to a certain point where you’re over-produced or you’ve been out for a while and they’re looking for new people, but the longevity in porn is a lot longer than the Playboy side of it,” she said.
She credits much of her success in porn to good scripts – and coming to terms with herself.
“I’ve been lucky that I’ve had really good scripts throughout my career,” Weigel said. The big companies, before I would do a movie, would hunt for scripts for me.
“Also, I’ve come into my own as a MILF because, these days, I’m more subtle with myself and know what I like. I’m not afraid to speak certain things that I like to do. When I was younger, I’d say ‘Yeah’ and do it even though I didn’t really want to.”
Along with her active acting career, Weigel performs as a feature entertainer three times a week at clubs across the country.
“I do a few songs in sexy costumes and then, afterwards, I do a singing spoof where I get a guy up on stage and sing ‘Wild Thing’ and I do a couple other songs,” she said. “I don’t sing as much as I’d like but, you know what, my career has kind of put me to where I’ve got it worked out. It’s a great show. I’m singing, dancing and acting sexy on stage.”
But while being on stage is fun for Weigel, she uses her show as a chance to be a role model to the next generation of strippers and porn stars. No wonder actresses like Rachel Starr credit her with teaching them how a porn star should behave.
“It’s very important to me, and I make a point of keeping my dressing room door open or if I’m in with the girls, I’m usually talking with them, because I not only can help them, I learn from them. I learn some of the new tricks and it keeps me up to date,” she said.
In fact, one of the reasons why she plans to open two strip clubs in Florida in the coming months is so she can “give back to the girls.”
