In real relationships, you introduce your partner to your parents. In “lite” relationships, you introduce your partner to your dog.

In real relationships, sex is a way to express love and intimacy. In “lite” relationships, sex is a way to get off without resorting to masturbation.

In real relationships, birthdays, holidays and anniversaries are events to be celebrated. In “lite” relationships, they are events to be avoided because they either force you to get serious about your partner, seriously consider a break-up or , worse, spend money on a gift.

In real relationships, the couple willingly spends as much time together as possible. In “lite” relationships, the couple hangs out only when it doesn’t get in the way of work, real friendships or getting your drink on.

In real relationships, when there’s a disagreement, you talk it out no matter how long it takes. In a “lite” relationship, you walk them to your door or let them out at the next corner.

In real relationships, there are no secrets. In a “lite” relationship, there are lots of secrets, including the biggie: “I don’t like you that much.”

In a real relationship, you refer to your partner as your “boyfriend” or “girlfriend.” In a “lite” relationship, you refer to the person as your neighbor, co-worker, friend with benefits or “someone I used to know.”

In a real relationship, you have a special place for dinner. In a “lite” relationship, you have them pick up a pizza on the way to the booty call.
