Sex With Robots Coming Quickly

DALLAS (TNA) – If you’re thinking about spicing up your love life, how about getting it on with a sex-crazed machine that can fuck all night, never gets a headache and is always in the mood?

Sounds like something straight out of science fiction, right?

Robot sex research Mac Tonnies predicts companies will sell robots for every type of sexual kink.
The answer to that question 20 years ago would probably have been “yes.”  Today, however, the line between reality and fantasy is a distinctly blurry one.

In 2005, Japanese scientists developed a very human-looking “female robot” known as Repliee Q1Expo that could flutter its eyelids and move its hands, and that even appeared to breathe.

As for sex with human-style machines, British author David Levy – who penned the 2007 book “Love and Sex with Robots” – predicts that we will be having intimate relations with robots by 2050.

One person who really has his finger firmly on the pulse of robot sex is Mac Tonnies, a Kansas City, Mo.-based sci-fi writer and futurist.

Tonnies, the author of “Illumined Black, After the Martian Apocalypse” and the forthcoming “The Crypto-Terrestrials,” believes that not only is human-robot sex in the cards, it’s downright inevitable.

“As things stand now, we’re in the infant stage of development, and the closest things we have to full-on human-robot sex are, effectively, high-tech dildos. But in 20 years we're liable to see sex-oriented technology transformed and revolutionized; many will choose robotic partners.”

But what was it that kick-started Tonnies’ fascination with robot sex?

“‘Blade Runner.’ I saw that movie for the first time in high school,” Tonnies reminisced “It had Darryl Hannah playing a robot called Pris, who is described as a ‘pleasure model.’ She’s all punked out: big hair, eyeliner, and looks like your typical genetically engineered hooker. But she's essentially human: she’s an individual. So, the whole idea of having intimate relations with machines began to interest me.”

And precisely how much of a “robo-sexual” has Tonnies become?

“My interest in robot sex is actually kind of clinical. I would probably do it out of sheer interest and curiosity,” he said. “She would have to pass for human though, right down to the pores on her skin. I wouldn’t make a habit out of it; but as a curiosity, I’d try it.

Researchers says robots may soon become the sex toys of the future.

Tonnies admits most people think of robots as being something clunky and mechanical – something that is not very sexually attractive, but he says science is heading to a point where robots will be very realistic and human-like. When that happens, the amorous androids will bear very little resemblance to the sci-fi image that people have from ‘Star Wars,’ ‘Star Trek,’ etc.

“If you look at the robots in ‘Blade Runner,’ you’ll see they actually aren’t mechanical at all: they’re genetically engineered. So, in the future we might grow an artificial embryo in a vat and then plug in a computerized brain, into which we’ll download sex-based software,” he said, adding that extremely lifelike sex robots will be developed within a few generations.

“It will take some time, though. Some of the current robots being developed have this weird jerky quality to them. It’s kind of like you’re looking at a brain-damaged person, which is really off-putting; unless, of course, you’re into having sex with brain-damaged people.”

Tonnies has some intriguing thoughts on how sex with robots might very well radically alter human sexuality – possibly for both better and worse.

“I think shallow relationships, closed-minded ones, would be the first to suffer if one of the people in the relationship brought a robot home,” he said. “However, more robust relationships might thrive. It will be the underground, alternative couples that embrace this.

Tonnies thinks people who are swingers, go to sex clubs or have threesomes are the ones most likely  to experiment with robot sex and make it a part of their sexual lifestyle.”

Indeed, Tonnies sees sex between robots and humans becoming positively adventurous.

“I can easily foresee companies selling themed robots. You’ll have just as many themed robots as there are sexual kinks. Robotic lovers, perhaps complimented by virtual reality, will allow people to live out whatever fantasies they want with surprising realism.

Tonnies predicts that swingers will be the first group of people to experiment with "robo-sexuals."
“Even further ahead, I also think that this sexual revolution will blur the lines of sexuality: Gay, lesbian, bi or whatever may become somewhat outdated as people start to experiment with future-sex.

It’s possible some sex robots might even be reproductions of celebrities. Tonnies sees a day when folks will be able to go online to order a lifelike Pamela Anderson robot.

And, maybe, for people who are nervous about bringing a real girl into the bedroom but who are also really curious about trying it, a machine just might work.

“We’ll probably be able to download different personalities into our sex robots, too - kind of like switching avatars in an online chat room,” he said.

He also admits that unforeseen problems might surface, however, if science develops to the point where the robots develop intelligence and become self-aware.

“Artificial intelligence – AI – is where the future is,” Tonnies said. “Right now, we program our machines to work for us. They don’t have intelligence. But it’s only a matter of time before we develop robots that think for themselves and become individual, living beings. The only difference is that whereas we are carbon-based, they will be synthetic: grown instead of born.”

Tonnies says when that happens, everything will change and it’s possible the robots will refuse to have sex with humans, preferring their own kind.

“But on the other hand, knowing that we are having sex with a machine that has intelligence – rather than just with a mindless, blow-up doll – might be a turn-on for both us and them,” he said optimistically.

Tonnies admits that acclimatizing people to the idea of having sex with robots might pose some problems in certain quarters. For instance, religious groups will probably see this as an affront to humanity. Still, he says there are people out there who will pay handsomely to have sex with machines, if they are sufficiently humanlike.

“I don’t think it denigrates the human condition,” he said. “After all, we’re lusty creatures. And it’s not terribly offensive. At first, it might be seen as being that way. But when they begin to look and act like us, it will be no big deal to say, ‘My girlfriend’s a robot.’”

Not everyone is in agreement with Tonnies, however.

“Paul” and “Marie,” a married couple living in Denver, Colo., are convinced that robots will never fully replace humans in the bedroom, and Paul, a 33-year-old architect, is completely turned off by the concept.

“If I’m fucking a chick, I want her to be real,” he said. “I don’t care how lifelike she looks. I want real skin, real tits and a real pussy. Fucking a robot, I’d be worrying all the time that a couple of metal teeth are going to burst out of its pussy and bite off my cock.”

Marie, a 32-year-old dental assistant, also has some reservations but admits she’s more willing than her hubby to get randy with a robot.

“I could never date a robot. That would be just too weird,” she said. “But would I screw a machine-man who could fuck me non-stop and not get sleepy? Sure, I would. I love the idea of a big metal cock going in and out of me for hours.”

Marie is also willing to have a roll in the hay with a celebrity robot.

“I’d do an Angelina Jolie robot, or one of Victoria Beckham; or maybe I’d do both of them at the same time.”

Despite his personal reservations about fucking a robot, Paul says he is not beyond a bit of mechanized voyeurism.

“Hellyes, I’d watch Marie making out with a couple of famous robots. Why not? That would be hot,” he said. “I don’t think it will ever happen, though. Weren’t they saying back in the ‘50s we’d all be driving flying cars by now and going on vacation to the moon? That never happened and I don’t think this will either.”
