Showgirls Shimmy And Shake At Burlesque Summer Camp

SEATTLE (Wireless Flash) -- A group of showgirls are taking over an island and shaking what their mamas gave them.

Recent graduates of the Academy of Burlesque show off what they learned in class.

Burlesque performer Miss Indigo Blue hosts a burlesque boot camp every summer for ladies who want to learn how to shimmy, shake, and get down to their pasties.

The shimmying students will study subjects like tassel twirling, the proper technique of removing gloves and stockings and the importance of creating a persona. 

This year, the camp will be held at a private location on Lopez Island -- which is a three-hour ferry ride from Seattle -- from Thursday, Aug. 21 to Sunday, Aug. 24.

Miss Indigo Blue says the island is perfect because it allows performers to really let loose and bond, and the only things getting booted off her island are bras and panties.

"It's just like traditional summer camp with dorm sleeping arrangements, group meals, and a staff," she said. "We just end up getting naked."

But she admits that packing for her sexy camp is a bit different.

"I tell the girls to make sure to pack a good pair of heels, a boa, a wig, and, of course, pasties, along with their sunblock," she said.
