Improveverywhere.com More than 300 people are expecting to ride the subways of New York without pants on Saturday.
Improv Everywhere, a society of pranksters who proudly "cause scenes of chaos and joy in public places," is holding it 7th Annual No Pants Subway Ride this Saturday, Jan. 12.
That’s where hoards of hellraisers will quietly board the Brooklyn Bridge 6 train, remove their pants, and go about their usual subway routine.
According to pantless prankster and organizer Charlie Todd, the first year they held the event there were only seven brave pantless participants. This year, he's expecting about 300 people to join in on the bare bottom fun.
But being a trouserless train traveler takes some serious skills.
"It takes a lot of planning and organizing, but really it's just a matter of taking off your pants at the right time," Todd said.
Todd requests that any rear-baring riders wear tasteful undies so they don't offend anyone, and suggests the pantless participients bundle up the rest of their bodies to brave the cold, New York winter weather.
Although the eyes will be on the folks with no pants, Todd says the real show comes from viewing the eyewitnesses.
"It's funny to see the different reactions we get,” he said. “Some try to act like jaded New Yorkers and will try not to care, some laugh hysterically, make fun of us, or ask us questions. We answer by claiming we forgot our pants or say that we were getting uncomfortable."
