Tasty Eats For St. Patrick's Day
MARCH 17, 2008
SAN DIEGO (Wireless Flash) -- Besides drinking up a storm, celebrate St. Patrick's Day by indulging in Ireland's finest foods.
The Field pub and restaurant in San Diego -- where "American Idol" contestant Carly Smithson pulled pints before hitting the "Idol" stage -- whips up traditional Irish fare year round, and they have some suggestions to make St. Paddy's Day a fulfilling event.
Bartender Keith Bloomer says true Irish partiers dig into traditional eats like fish and chips, shepherd's pie, or
corned beef and cabbage.
Last St. Patrick's Day, The Field sold more than 250 corned beef sandwiches, but with all the belly-busting
goodness and green beer, many found it hard to keep from going into a food coma.
To ensure the party lasts all night, Bloomer says, "Don't eat too many potatoes. They make you sleepy."
To wash down all the delicious Celtic cuisine, Bloomer suggests a pint of Guinness or Harp lager, or a "Half-and-
Half," which combines the two brews.
