Valentine's Day Treats: A Recipe For Migraines?

BRUNSWICK, N.J. (Wireless Flash) -- For some people, the standard Valentine's Day treats can be a real headache.

That's the heart-wrenching truth from New Jersey-based health expert Dr. Donnica Moore, who says Cupid Day staples like red wine, dark chocolate, and scented, flickering candles can trigger migraines for certain people.

So if you want to feel the love that night with your valentine, you may want to tweak your plans a bit.

For starters, instead of toasting your lover with red wine, opt for a bottle of bubbly champagne or white wine instead, which Moore says won't trigger a migraine.

Also, when buying your sweet a box of chocolates, select white chocolate instead, since dark chocolate can trigger horrible headaches.

Scented candles may be romantic, but the strong aroma and constant flickering can instantly cause a migraine. Instead, use soft-colored light bulbs for mood lighting.

But if you really want to protect your valentine from migraines, Moore says there's one treat that guarantees a clear head -- and a happy heart.

"Jewelry has never been known to cause a migraine," she said. "Diamonds aren't a problem either!"
