St. Patrick's Day Will Cost Some Green

WIRELESS FLASH NEWS SERVICE
MARCH 3, 2008

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash) -- St. Patrick's Day (Mar. 17) could cost you plenty of greenbacks this year -- $126 to be exact.

That's the clover cost according to a St. Paddy's Day index compiled by Tullamore Dew Irish Whiskey, which tracks the price of various Irish-oriented goodies.

For instance, a classic "Kiss Me, I'm Irish" pin will set you back $1.99 these days, while a green felt derby costs $5.98.

Meanwhile, Irish coffee glasses cost $1.95 each, and a U2's greatest hits collector's CD box is priced at a pricey $24.98.

Four bags of M&Ms imprinted with the Gaelic phrase "Erin Go Bragh" sell for $11.50, while a taxi ride home from the pub will cost you about $6.12.

Finally, a traditional Irish corned beef and cabbage dinner costs around $13.50 -- up from last year's price of $11.70, while a bottle of Irish whiskey runs for $21.99 -- a bit more green than last year's price of $20.

These greenbacks add up to a St. Patrick's Day that'll set you back about $126 -- up from last year's cost of $120.
