SAN DIEGO (Wireless Flash) -- Jim Morrison may remain mysterious and misunderstood, but one author is using his family ties to tell the singer's true tale.![]()
Jim Morrison's former brother-in-law is opening a door to the rock legend's true personality in a new biography, 'I Remember.'
Alan Graham is the author of "I Remember" (Dark Ryders Publishing), a candid, behind-the-music look at legendary Doors singer Jim Morrison.
Graham, who was married to Morrison's sister, Anne, for 22 years, says that most people have an incomplete picture of the free-spirited frontman.
"He wasn't just this mythological Lizard King that people talk about," Graham said. "He was tragic, funny, intelligent -- he was human."
Graham recounts Christmases spent with the iconic performer, and pranks that Morrison pulled, including a time he and his girlfriend ditched Graham at a funeral home.
But the book doesn't pull any punches about the "Light My Fire" singer's classic debauchery either.
On a visit to Morrison's Hollywood home, Graham once had to knock out Morrison after he got too drunk and rowdy, and the two were also involved in a 10-car pileup in the Hollywood hills.
"I Remember" hits shelves March 14.
