`There Will Be Blood' Makes For A Bloody Good Oscar Party
FEBRUARY 19, 2008
LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash) -- "There Will Be Blood" may be a dark Oscar-nominated flick, but it makes a bloody good theme for Oscar viewing parties.
So says Harry Medved, editorial director for Fandango, the nation's leading moviegoer destination.
Medved says although "Blood" is a serious film, it's a colorful theme for an Oscar viewing party that your guests will be sure to remember.
To stay consistent with the film's all-male cast, he suggests inviting mostly men to the party and having them dress up in oil prospector gear, which includes long-sleeved shirts, high-backed trousers with suspenders, vests, and lace-up boots.
In addition, milkshakes should be served at the "Blood" bash, in accordance with Daniel Day-Lewis' now-infamous line in which he screams, "I drink your milkshake!"
Bloody Marys can also be served, and in honor of Day- Lewis' power-hungry oil tycoon character, you can cook up some huge T-bone steaks for your boys.
After the party, you can go bowling in an old-fashioned alley, but Medved warns not to invite anyone you despise, because, like in "Blood," violence could quickly ensue at the bowling alley.
