PLAINFIELD, Conn. (AP) -- Police have charged a Plainfield man with larceny for allegedly stealing a copper gutter from a church during Easter services. Paul Bissonnette is accused of removing about 30 feet of the gutter as nearly 200 parishioners attended Easter Vigil service at All Hallows Church on Saturday night.

Police said a woman heard a noise and had someone call police. Authorities say Bissonnette quickly folded up the gutter and walked away with it.

A police dog tracked the 44-year-old to his house, where he was arrested and charged with sixth-degree larceny and third-degree criminal mischief.

Bissonnette was released on $2,500 bond and is scheduled to appear April 7 in Danielson Superior Court. He also is out on bond for previous charges of sixth-degree larceny and second-degree forgery.
