Is That An Old Dyke? No, It’s Just Paul McCartney
OCTOBER 25, 2007
LOS ANGELES (TNA) – What do Paul McCartney, Dennis Leary, and John Voight all have in common? Not much … except they all look like old lesbians.
That’s according to “men who look like old lesbians,” a bare-bones blog run by a Hollywood television writer
operating under the nom de plume Keith Mays.![]()

The Long Island native launched “men who look like old lesbians” in early October to celebrate male celebrities who, through cosmetic surgery or mere coincidence, look sorta like Billie Jean King and retired LPGA golfers.
“My wife saw a picture of Paul McCartney a while back,” Mays says of the blog’s origin. “And she said, ‘Man, he must have had some work done. He’s starting to look like an old lesbian.’”
Mays thought the same thing of Bruce Jenner (“Man, I don’t know what happened to that guy”), and realized that there were a lot of male celebrities out there who needed to be outed as old lesbians.
Not knowing anything about web programming, he set up a humble blog, and posted his first three photos: McCartney, Leary, and Voight. Other tuna-licking lookalikes quickly followed: Steven Tyler, Christopher Walken, Phil Spector, and Barry Manilow.
The site now has 41 dudes who look like ladies, and welcomes submissions from anyone with photos of celebs in moments of dykiness.
Mays doesn’t know if any of the “old lesbians” – except for one – are aware they’ve been outed. He declined to name the celebrity, only saying that it’s someone he works with in the television industry.
People apparently take their celebrity lesbian association seriously. E-mailers have chastised Mays for posting photos of guys who look more like middle-aged lesbians than old ones.![]()

That led to the “Chris Cooper Rule,” which says that some celebrities may appear on the site, as long as they’re identified as middle-aged lesbians.
One e-mailer even told Mays, “You don’t understand the premise.”
Mays has recently allowed younger guys on the site, all accompanied by an asterisk. Clay Aiken, Lance Bass, Zac Efron – all up there.
Mays warns that younger, seemingly straight celebs may be outed as old lesbians if they don’t lay off the botox and highlights. And the names may shock you. “Brad Pitt’s in trouble if he doesn’t look out,” Mays hints.
And what of Mays, who’s in his mid-forties? “I’m not good looking enough to be an old lesbian,” he says. “Most of these guys were handsome when they were younger.”
Actual lesbians have taken to the site, with many lamenting looking like straight men. “I’m 20 years away from looking like Erik Estrada,” remarked one Latina lesbian on a linked-in site.
Mays isn’t making any money from “men who look like old lesbians” and admits he doesn’t know the first thing about monetizing the site. But that may be a good thing. To any celebrity thinking of suing him, he snips, “Well, good luck!”
