Being Evil On Soap Not Always Good In Real LifeDavid B. Moye

LOS ANGELES (TNA) – Actress Adrienne Frantz loves being a bad girl – but only when the cameras are rolling. Frantz plays both mischievous Amber Moore and her rock-singing twin sister, April Knight, on “The Young and the Restless,” but insists that art isn’t imitating her real life personality. “I’ve never stolen anyone’s husband, or dumped dead bodies,” she said, but concedes that doing them on camera is a real blast. “It’s fun to do those things I don’t get to do in real life. Not that I want to dump dead bodies,” Frantz said.
“I’ve had people throw me into a wall and confront me about things my character did,” she said. “I’ve tried pretending I’m not me, and say, ‘No, I just look a lot like her.’ It never works, though.” But if Frantz has her way, she will be known as much for being a good singer as being a bad girl on TV. She is the latest soap star who is attempting a singing career, joining the likes of Rick Springfield, Jack Wagner, Michael Damian and occasional Beach Boys drummer John Stamos. Her debut CD, “Anomaly,” will be released in stores October 30, and young Frantz is restless to get it out to the world. “I feel like this record is 12 years in the making,” she said, adding that the acting chops she learned on soaps helped her in the recording studio. “Acting helped teach me how to get back to the place I was when I was writing the songs,” Frantz said. Frantz is hoping to tour behind the album and is grateful that her “Y&R” producers are 100 percent behind the idea. “Soap operas are great for actors and actresses who want to sing,” she said. “They’ll try to write it in the plot. I’ve talked about touring and the producers have said, ‘Go ahead. Take as long as you want.’” Did you enjoy this article?
