CHICAGO (TNA) – Philadelphia is known as the City of Brotherly Love and, fittingly, Philadelphia International Airport is the best in the country for making a love connection.

That’s one of the findings of a new AXE Deodorant survey, which analyzed which airports were best for meeting sexy singles based on criteria such as the average delay time (allowing for more chances to chat up a potential date), amenities such as bars and restaurants, and inclement weather.

When the final tally was made, Philadelphia International flew away with the honor of “Best Airport For Making A Connection,” in part, because it has some of the nation’s longest and most frequent flight delays. Amazingly, 32 percent of all flights are delayed at least 60 minutes.

There are other airports with more delays and canceled flights – such as O’Hare International in Chicago – but Philly is better for hooking up because it has a whopping 16 bars, seven lounges and 57 restaurants where a horny traveler can meet a potential inductee into the Mile-High Club if and when their plane ever leaves the ground.

By comparison, Oakland International is a terrible place to find in-flight romance, mainly because it lacks amenities and has fewer delayed flights than other airports.

Luckily, finding airport love is not as hard as you might think: Nearly 10 percent of adults has personally gone out with or knows someone who has gone out with someone they met at the airport or during a flight, and 33 percent would rather sit next to someone attractive while waiting for a flight than be alone.

But what is the best way to make a fellow passenger’s acquaintance without getting thrown in a holding pattern – or worse – grounded before takeoff? Johnny Jet, who dishes about airports at www.johnnyjet.com, says the rules for airport pickups are slightly different than the real world.

For instance, griping about delays or canceled flights provides great fodder for breaking the ice and, once that happens, it’s easy to continue the conversation by watching the other passengers and passing judgment on them with your new friend.

Other timely tips that can help your love life take flight…

-- Be very picky about where you sit at the gate. It’s just as easy to sit next to a hottie as some old sneezing senior citizen, so, don’t be stupid, go for looks.

-- Make yourself open for that chance encounter by wearing outfits that are comfortable, yet stylish. You don’t want to look like you just rolled out of bed.

-- Don’t try to talk with a woman who is wearing headphones or trying to take a nap. In addition, don’t close yourself off to romance by wearing headphones yourself. They make you less approachable.

-- Nice guys finish first when it comes to airport love. A guy who helps a woman put her luggage in the overhead bin has a better chance of getting in her drawers during the flight.

-- If you’re stuck on a long flight delay and are flirting with a cutie, don’t ask for her e-mail 15 minutes into the conversation. Show a little patience.

-- Timing is everything. If you start a conversation with a babe while you’re boarding the plane, the chances of it extending to in-flight flirting are pretty good.

-- Although alcohol is the lubricant that has oiled many a hook-up, be adaptable when you send over a drink to the object of your desire. Says Jet: “If it’s a college co-ed, you can never go wrong with beer, but if it looks like she might have a seat in business class then a glass of wine is probably a better choice."

-- Finally, no matter what, always be yourself. You have nothing to lose if she’s not impressed because it’s the first and last time you’ll see her.
